Abstract:

All things in life are constantly disappearing before our eyes; darkness and light alternate; after a radiant glow, the world suddenly plunges into gloom; people watch, they bustle about, reaching out to grasp at things that slip away; every event is a turning point in the path; in an instant, we grow old. Suddenly, we feel that everything has turned dark; we see a shadowy door, and the dark steed of life that once carried us forward comes to a halt. We see a vague, unfamiliar figure in the darkness, removing its bridle.

Everything that appears in human life, including life itself, is like quicksand—fleeting and transient in an instant.
